Aguilera shows off her weight loss

She shocked fans last year when she stepped out looking curvier than ever, leading weight experts to estimate she was around 40lbs overweight.

But it seems Christina Aguilera has been working hard to get into shape and tone up, judging by pictures of her wearing a figure-hugging black dress as she arrived for an interview on The Late Show With David Letterman.

The 30-year-old singer looked a lot more slender than she has in recent months as she posed in the black number, which she teamed with a pair of studded Christian Louboutin heels.Christina cut a slim figure compared to when she was pictured accepting a star on the Hollywood Gay Walk of Fame in April.

While it is not known what diet and exercise regime Christina has been following, she said in a recent interview that she doesn't believe in deprivation when it comes to an eating plan.

In an interview last year, Christina said: 'Diet is not a word in my vocabulary - I don't like depriving myself of things.

'I make healthy choices when I can as it's important for me to have moments where I can let go, have a great dinner and not care about the carbs.

'I work out five days a week - and I hate working out.

'But the aftermath is so great, and it helps you feel good - not only physically, but mentally.'

As she arrived for her interview on Letterman, Christina's trademark bleach blonde hair was styled in loose waves which cascaded over her shoulders and she of course had a swipe of her bright red lipstick.

It was a different story, however, for Christina as she arrived for her appearance on the show wearing a pair of skintight leggings.

And while the leggings highlighted her slim figure, they left very little to the imagination as she arrived at the studios with boyfriend Matthew Cutler.

During her appearance the singer - who has a new TV role as a vocal coach on U.S. singing reality show The Voice - read out Letterman's nightly Top 10 list.

Aguilera's Top 10 list were all meant to be tips for aspiring singers.

But the star also poked fun at herself with one of the tips for aspiring singers being: 'Learn the lyrics to the national anthem.'

She added: 'Listen to as many different styles as possible but if you illegally download my music, I'll kick your ass.'

Christina was promoting her hit show The Voice which she co-judges with Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green.

The series is already a runaway hit and has produced great viewing figures and reviews.
